The Western Wall (also known as the Wailing Wall or Buraq Wall) is an ancient limestone wall in the Old City of Jerusalem that Herod the Great erected as part of the expansion of the Second Jewish Temple in 19 B.C. The wall is now part of a larger wall around the Muslim Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqṣā Mosque. This photo depicts Jewish pilgrims in prayer.

Jerusalem lies on a plateau between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea.
